When Annika passed away it felt like the end of everything. Of everything that was known.
But as in any story, there is a twist.
While being with Annika at the hospital day and night during summer and autumn of 2018, trying to help saving her life, I developed a distinct pain in the area of my heart.
And the week after Annika passed away I had my first meeting with my doctor.
After several different investigations I learned that I have a heart condition called “Aortic dilatation in combination with bicuspid aortic valve”.
This means that I am born with a heart valve that is built in a way that it will be less flexible with time, meaning the heart valve needs to be replaced.
The most worrying thing though with my condition is that my aorta is enlarged and can break at any moment.
